A importância dos equipamentos de proteção individual para catadores de materiais recicláveis em uma associação de catadores no estado do Paraná

Abstract

This study aims to investigate Highlighting the importance of the use of Personal Protective Equipment for collectors of recyclable materials in an association. Therefore, it applied the descriptive method with qualitative and quantitative approach with 11 members in place. Data collection, we used a questionnaire with a script structured questions. In analyze analysis used the separation of these questions in three parts. In the first part, the research results were presented and the analysis of the profile of the members, where we have the subjects are 9 women and 2 men aged 22-59 years, with the vast majority of people (82%) having low education (to complete primary education) and performing all the steps involved in the recycling process. In the second part, the results for the use of personal protective equipment were presented, 76% of workers use any safety measure, these 7 use at least the boot, among others. And in the third part, we evaluated the occupational and accidental risks, among its members, 75% of them reported having suffered physical problems, of these, 50% suffered cuts and 25% reported perforations. After analysis of the data analysis, we found it was found that there is, in the pool, need for improvements and preventive actions to be taken. Such as the use of the following Individual Protection Equipment: safety glasses, nitrile knitted gloves - for use by workers sorting; scrapes gloves and hearing protection - to be used by the press operator and manual forklift; PFF1 disposable respirator with valve, reflective uniform, shaving apron, signpost and skills training for proper use of Individual Protection Equipment.
