Utilização de mapas temáticos como ferramenta de auxílio para atividades de gerência de pavimentos urbanos

Abstract

The urban pavement managers have a great challenge: keep the pavements in a good shape with the public funds that are intended to the maintenance and rehabilitation activities. In order for the conservation activities to achieve good results, the funds must be applied in the areas that need the most interference in that moment of time. Thus, this paper proposes a new aid tool, through database and thematic maps, so that the managers are able to do the best decision when investing the available resources. Surveying the flaws in the field, parts of the pavement of the road network of Pato Branco – PR were evaluated according to the Pavement Condition Index method, in order to estimate the actual situation of those parts of the road. After the evaluation, the defects maps were elaborated with the recpective severities, so that the real situation of the pavements could be exposed. It was concluded that the proposed tool represents a great assistance to the road management, altough it is necessary an up to date database to achieve reliable results.
