Um santuário na hipermodernidade: recuperando a solidão como experiência enriquecedora

Abstract

The social changes that took place in the last decades are profound and, as the time pass, they are gradually becoming faster. So many changes eventually cause impacts on the etics and moral spheres at the same time that make demands of adaptations over the belief system of individuals. All of this creates conflicts and dilemmas that, invariably, increase suffering. Mental health discussions must take this contexto into account. This work suggests architecture as a fundamental part of the mental health discussion in contemporaneity. The aim is to rescue lonesomeness as an enriching experience in the hypermodernity with the proposal of a building situated on the land of na old psychiatric hospital: the Hospital Bom Retiro.
