Circo-circuito: em busca de público no espaço público

Abstract

The current study seeks to identify ways of intervention that contribute to the appropriation of public spaces, considering as a case study some central plazas located in Curitiba - PR. The aim of this study is that these places take back the function which has long been lost and become again the place of social and cultural movements. In this context, the circus emerges as an attracting alternative, given the large presence of street artists in the city’s traffic lights, and consequently, collaborating in the connection between architecture and public. Seeing that, as an assumption, the insertion of structures that support circus artists might influence the attraction and the reoccupation of these places. In this monograph is discussed the concept of public space, the definition of plaza, the insertion of art in public spaces, and the features of ephemeral interest in the contemporary society. Under those circumstances, the monograph attempts to define guidelines for the project that result both in the revaluation in plazas and in the circus culture.
