Escola de Música e Belas Artes do Paraná: restauro do edifício-sede e anexo

Abstract

This research aims to develop a restoration proposal and architectural project to allow the return of the Paraná School of Music and Fine Arts to its original headquarters, the old building on Emiliano Perneta Street. Since the institution left the historic building in 2010, it has been in a state of abandonment, even though it is an example of Curitiba’s eclectic architecture from the beginning of the 20th century and represents, in addition to a fragment of Curitiba’s history, also the image of the School, having housed the activities for 50 years. The research bases its studies on the principles of restoration, analyzed in the initial chapters of the work, together with the insertion scenario of the fine arts schools and academies. Accompanied by research on the history of the city and its relationship with the building, understanding the influences of historical landmarks on the history of the object of study and its surroundings. As a result of the research, we propose the readjustment of the building’s current facilities, establishing guidelines and relating the existing spaces with the new structures proposed to house the School’s program.
