Representações de bruxa na trilogia de filmes Rua do Medo (2021)

Abstract

The representations of witch are very well known in the audiovisual, mainly by the genre of horror cinema. In this work, starting from a filmic analysis of the horror trilogy Fear Street, which has as its setting the years 1994, 1978 and 1666, the fears of a society about the representation of a witch are questioned, weaving relations with historiographical studies and horror cinema. Thus, among the many possibilities for analysis that the themes of horror film and witchcraft present, in this research it was chosen to focus on character analysis, from scene description, image capture, and analysis of the narrative around the character Sarah Fier, throughout the three films. By results, it was possible to identify that the representation of witch widespread in cinema is still very stereotyped and related to the European view of witchcraft, representing magic as an instrument of evil or pact with the devil. In Street of Fear, at the same time in which the character Sarah Fier is exonerated, a new culprit practitioner of witchcraft is presented, breaking with some stereotypes, but reinforcing others.
