O feminismo, a maternidade e a sobrecarga feminina

Abstract

The present text aims to bring to light issues that are little addressed in the feminist and motherhood universe. Initiate a possible long discussion about visceral issues of a large part of the female population, of how feminist achievements, which are of great importance at the same time, added more demands to the lives of all women. Today, they all have access to previously prohibited resources, such as studying, driving, salary, which are still unequal, but everything was added up, nothing divided. Caring for the home, children and the elderly were added to the obligations of providing housing, food and basic needs to all these dependents, combined with selfcare, aesthetic pressure and the pursuit of a career. The work addresses the history of feminism, mentioning the four feminist waves. It then goes on to analyze an example of the fiction “The lost daughter” by Elena Ferrante, which deals with the anxieties of motherhood in a way that represents many mothers, even those who do not even know how to organize this feeling in such a clear, courageous way. And painful than Leda, the main character. Finally, it brings the vision of Katrine Marçal and a point of view of Virgínia Woolf on the economy and women. All these themes are intrinsically linked, one thing does not happen without the other, it works like a gear – which can be cruel and heavy for women of all periods of history.
