Abstract

This work presents the study of the layout of a small new factory for orange juice. From the analysis of the characteristics of the market, there is a growing demand for natural juices, not concentrates. With the study of the supply of oranges in the metropolitan region of Curitiba, we opted for the project of setting up a factory in the capital, due to the short distance to potential suppliers. From the volume and variety relationship, an online production process was selected. With the due study of the production process and using consolidated tools and new techniques to obtain the most efficient layout and using legislation to enable the correct selection of equipment. After selecting the equipment, the systematic layout study was started, where the Systematic Layout Planning (SLP) qualitative criteria for the Pairwise Exchange Method (PEM) procedure were successfully applied using the Computerized Relative Allocation of Facilities Technique software.
