Políticas públicas e governança na atualidade: escalas e planejamento

Abstract

This book aims to contribute with the development of the public service, and to collaborate with the current discussion about the planning and implementation of policies and practices directed to the improvement of peoples’ lives and the place where they live. Its relevance goes along with the ongoing debate surrounding the challenges of policy making and public governance, as it has been evident in recent years. In particular, Brazilian society has demanded changes in the form of organization, administration, planning and management of the public domain. Notably, solutions are not simple! Nevertheless, this work dwells on the understanding that to improve methods, to describe new experiences, to compare case studies, to evaluate programs and projects at light of the theory can be an important academic contribution to overcome the challenges that though are not few, are not insurmountable. Planning, which is still despised in many sectors of society, is here understood as a fundamental strategy to mediate and build good public governance. The reflections presented in this book depart from different theoretical perspectives, and evidence the diversity of contributions resulting from the work of researchers students of the Postgraduate Program in Public Planning and Governance of the Universidade Tecnológica Federal do Paraná (PPPGP-UTFPR).
