Abstract

To reduce maintenance costs on aircrafts operators can list the components installed in an airplane and removed after a short time in service, analyzing the root cause of the short life in service and correcting that problem. By automating this process, operators can get results quickly and identify root causes sooner. Outsourcing the rotable inventory by a fixed price per hour is a solution to eliminate the risks for operators and reduce the management costs. However, this business by itself is not a guarantee to eliminate the short life units, still affecting directly the airline's business. This scenario demands a joint effort to reduce risks and optimize resources for both sides, leaded now by the inventory providers.
