Gerenciamento de alarmes em indústrias: conceitos e a aplicação da racionalização de alarmes em uma planta química

Abstract

Several studies have been developed to maximize operational efficiency in industries. One of the topics addressed is the management of industrial alarms, this can bring many benefits to the industry, among them, greater operational efficiency, reduction of emergency stops and greater safety in the operation of the plant. Alarm management can be implemented based on EEMUA 191 and ISA 18.2 standards, which describe the methodology used for implementation as well as system performance metrics. The present work describes and uses the methodology cited based on the cycle of alarm management, including the steps of defining the philosophy of alarms, identification, rationalization, design, implementation, change management and maintenance. The management methodology was implemented in a chemical plant, the initial diagnosis of the system was performed, it had an excessive number of alarms and was classified as reactive (newly commissioned system, where the alarms were implemented with the minimum of good practices or an alarm system has been classified as robust (alarm system is reliable during all modes of operation). All the objectives of the work were achieved, the results obtained prove the efficiency of the methodology application in the alarm management cycle and allows the later maintenance of the system through the use of the management software.
