Características da literatura afro-brasileira em Ponciá Vicêncio

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the novel Ponciá Vivêncio by Conceição Evaristo ( 2003), as from the perspective given to the afro-brazilian literature by Eduardo de Assis Duarte. Within the study of theme, the author, the point of view, the language and public, it is clearly emphazided the concept of the literature described by Duarte (2001), as a distintic literary field from the brazilian literature. The study is based on theory developed by Bernd(1988), on the afro-descendents literature that comes from a reconstruction of a positive self-image of them different from the studies of Woodward(2007) and Hall(2011) and the brazilian afro-descents by Proença Filho(2004). This paper calls attention to the importance of Evaristo Conceição‟s concepts on afro brazilian descendents and raises the accuracies on his studies reassuming the african cultural inheritance marginalised during centuries.
