Gerenciamento de resíduos no setor da construção civil: um estudo de caso

Abstract

The building work is considered an important indicator of development, this sector is responsible for socioeconomic benefits, bringing jobs opportunities and pumping money into the region where it is present, however the execution of construction works is also responsible for large consumption of resources and generation of a huge amount of waste that often causes environmental damage. This work proposes the study of the construction site of an industrial expansion and, from the adaptation of a waste management manual, make a diagnosis that explains the situation of construction materials and the waste generated by the construction company responsible for the building work. To collect the data, it was used two ways: the qualitative data were collected from questionnaires applied only to people in charge of the execution of the project; the quantitative data were collected through direct observation of the construction process. The results showed that the main cause of waste generation are the lack of planning at the time of the execution of the project, carelessness and lack of quality of manpower, and the need to accelerate activities to accomplish the goals. The study showed that although the methods used to carry out the execution cause a huge amount of waste, the destination of this waste is done in a way that do not provoke great impact on the environment.
