“Primavera silenciosa”: estudo estatístico da relação entre o volume de agrotóxicos comercializados e o aumento do aparecimento de tumores cancerígenos no estado do Paraná

Abstract

Writer Rachel Carson in 1962 exposed the world to the harmful effects of the indiscriminate use of pesticides in nature, such as cellular alterations in animals and plants. Over the years, the current scene has referred to this work, with Brazil being one of the largest consumers of agrotoxic products in the world, and Paraná is the second largest state in the world. Therefore, the main objective of this study was to studythe relationship between the commercial volume (ADAPAR) and the occurrence of tumors (INCA) in the period of 2013 017 in Paraná. A correlation analysis was performed between the variables Volume marketed and Number of tumor occurrences for each year cited. Thematic maps were also generated using Geostatistics methods, in order to verify if regions with higher commercial volume also had high occurrence of tumors. From the analysis made, it was evident the great dispersion of the data of the variables, as well as some inconsistencies were identified, such as cities that presented half of the inhabitants with tumors. Analyzing year after year, no significant correlation was found between the variables marketed volume and number of occurrences of tumors, however, considering the sum of the values obtained per year, there is a linear correlation equal to 0,55.
