Proposta de avaliação de impacto ambiental de emissários submarinos

Abstract

The sewage discharge, unprovided of pre-treatment, is one of the most common ways for oceanic pollution. The use of submarine outfalls may cause environmental impacts compromising the marine ecosystem and affecting also the socioeconomic factor from the region. Therefore, for projects of this magnitude it must be performed an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), evaluating the enterprise's viability through the physical, biotic and socioeconomic means. One of the Environmental Impact Assessment’s steps is the Evaluation of Environmental Impact, which uses methods to quantify and qualify the impacts caused by an enterprise. This present work’s objective is to succinctly explain the behavior of a submarine outfall, the Evaluation of Environmental Impact's methods, the Environmental Impact Assessment's steps, and to propose one method for a clear and efficient evaluation on the analysis of environmental impacts for this kind of project.
