Desenvolvimento de um software para dimensionamento de redes coletoras de esgoto

Abstract

The universalization of the sewage system in Brazil is a distant reality. Basic Sanitation is a constitutional right, and its inefficiency still affects a large share of the Brazilian population. This paper presents a brief historical regarding the sewage collection networks in the world and in Brazil, in which it is shown that the growth of the sewage collection system did not follow the growth of the water supply system. Therefore, to change this reality, tools are required to assist this process. This paper proposes a sewage collection network dimensioning software, called UTFEsg, developed to provide a tool that is able to design sewage collection networks and in the end it generates a budget of the dimensioned network. Considering that the available ones with this function in the market are paid, this tool is appropriate to contribute to the improvement of the country’s sewer situation. All the concepts that the designing of a network is based on were demonstrated and discussed, as well as the language and the basis program for the creation of the UTFEsg. The software validation was made by comparing results of dimensioning performed with that program and with another one already used in the market. It was concluded that the results were convenient and satisfactory, so that the UTFEsg is fully capable of performing the function proposed.
