A hospitalidade brasileira em xeque: projeto de centro de acolhimento para refugiados em Curitiba

Abstract

The present work consists in research of the world refugee population – with focus in the city of Curitiba. The reasons that force them to leave their homes to start life in another country, their needs and, in short, make their reintegration into the new society is what underlies the basis of this work. Its concept is that architecture can strongly assist refugees in this process - painful and traumatic on its own - with activities, adequate and taking into account their needs. It presents a brief history of hostels, a place that for a long time sheltered the great wave of immigration that Brazil received, demonstrating that the country has a (recent) past worthy of being remembered or to put to the test the Brazilian reputation in well-welcome. With the cases analysis, it was conclude the proposed ideal building: to implant the concepts through the project of a Welcome Center for Refugees in Curitiba - PR. The implantation and existence of the project comes to rehumanize people who had lost their homes, giving us better facilities and a fresh start with dignity, as well as contributing to a community with great ethnic diversity, helping, concomitantly, the State to better manage public policies aimed at subject matter. This work was based on bibliographical and field research, interviews and questionnaires, through articles and theses that address the issue of refugees, NGO visits, participation in events promoted to re-socialize population, an interview with refugees living in Curitiba and a quizz applied to the other inhabitants of Curitiba.
