Cine Lumina: lapidação de ideias

Abstract

The main objective of this research is to develop a space that is able to reconnect the urban identity of Curitiba’s downtown with the street cinemas that made up the city’s old Cinelandia, encouraging the independent art-film industry thought studies upon necessities and demands of the Brazilian audiovisual realm. Based on movements such as New Cinema Going and the propitious moment in which the country finds itself in the realm of production and consumption of audiovisual works, the research focus on the establishment of Cine Lumina as a space of sociocultural discussions and urban quality. The project deals with the importance of protection and development of audiovisual arts in general e its understanding that State interventions are essential for its both sides – the artistic and industrial. Still, based on studies of Jan Gehl (2010) on urban quality, it idealizes the Cine Lumina complex as space capable of doing its own architectural quality as an urban reference of the recapture of the culture of the street cinema.
