Edifício-cidade: o antigo edifício do Citibank como uma interface entre a cidade arquipélago e o todo-dia

Abstract

In short, the research seeks to use the concept of Archipelago, investigating how the buildings of Curitiba function in urban dynamics, adding positively and negatively to the idea of city, understanding how these can provide us with valuable lessons, manifesting themselves as “cities within the city”, explaining the influences in which these were placed within the temporal clippings in which they are found, interfering directly and indirectly in the elaboration of such artifacts. Thus, understanding the role of architecture in the formation of space, and as an interface for the development of everyday activities of the everyday, these theories influence the exploration of the spatial dynamics around the Citibank Building and Santos Andrade Square, proposing an intervention in the complex, which presents itself as a flexible specimen to assume the character of a multiprogrammatic building, of architecture serving as infrastructure. Assimilating that architecture by itself will not solve the problems of the city, but that it can, through good references and projectual strategies, benefit the city, in its physical, social and democratic aspects.
