Percepções dos professores de ciência e biologia no trabalho docente durante a pandemia da COVID-19

Abstract

Teaching is one of the most important professions in the construction of society. This final paper discusses the visions of public school teachers of the curricular components Science and Biology, about how they faced the different moments of the pandemic of COVID-19, starting with the Emergency Remote Teaching and extending until the moment of return to the present, with the Hybrid Teaching; investigating the difficulties, the continuing education, the use of digital tools for teaching, the mental and physical health of teachers. It aims to know the perceptions of male and female teachers of the curricular components Science and Biology in relation to emergency remote teaching and hybrid teaching in the period of the pandemic of COVID-19. Considering the health crisis of the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic (the virus that caused the disease COVID-19) that completely changed the daily lives of the entire Brazilian population, the rapid spread of the virus made restrictive measures necessary, such as isolation and social distancing. The investigation made it possible to know how the uncertainties of the pandemic moment directly interfered in the teaching of five teachers from different state schools in the city of Ponta Grossa/PR, how they felt and faced the teaching work in this period. It was extremely important to listen to these teachers and try to understand what difficulties they faced at this difficult and never before seen moment. To obtain data on these issues, the teachers were heard through semi-structured interviews, one face-to-face, and the others remotely, using the Google Meet tool. It was possible to understand that the educators' lives were affected in several areas, not only professionally, since they had to adapt their homes for remote work, the workload increased, there were reports of lack of training for remote work, and also complaints about how the pandemic period was negative for mental and physical health.
