| Resumo: | A fim de investigar como as mulheres eram retratadas na sociedade brasileira do século XVIII, e consequentemente, na literatura brasileira, este trabalho procura analisar os aspectos literários utilizados para representar os papéis das mulheres na sociedade, enfocando as personagens Isabel, do romance A muralha (2020), de Dinah Silveira de Queiroz, e Isabel das Santas Virgens, do romance Carta à Rainha Louca (2019), de Maria Valéria Rezende. O objetivo principal é investigar como a mulher era retratada na sociedade brasileira do século XVIII, buscando compreender a relação entre elementos históricos, sociais e seu impacto nas duas obras, dando ênfase aos aspectos literários utilizados para representar os papéis das mulheres na sociedade. Os aspectos literários a serem analisados incluem a caracterização de personagens, o uso de símbolos, metáforas e o uso da linguagem, analisando como as escolhas linguísticas das autoras refletem e moldam as visões sobre as mulheres. Entre outras autoras e autores, a teorização centra-se nas seguintes obras: Literatura e sociedade (2006), de Antonio Candido, para maior entendimento na relação presente entre a literatura e a sociedade; os aspectos históricos ligados ao contexto das mulheres na sociedade setecentista tiveram apoio em História das mulheres no Brasil (2004), organização de Mary Del Priore e Carla Bassanezzi Pinsky, e Histórias íntimas (2011), de Mary Del Priore; A criação do patriarcado, de Gerda Lerner, auxilia na análise de alguns aspectos relacionados a origem do patriarcalismo; especificamente sobre a ordem patriarcal brasileira e como ela aparece na literatura, houve a consulta à A permanência do círculo (1987), de Roberto Reis; quanto às discussões sobre comparativismo, as obras Literatura comparada (2006), de Tania Carvalhal, e Literatura Comparada (2021), de Sandra Nitrini (2021) compõem o arcabouço teórico e metodológico para conduzir essa análise. Ao investigar as narrativas de Queiroz e Rezende, essa fundamentação teórica permitiu analisar não apenas os aspectos históricos e sociais, mas também os literários, oferecendo uma visão abrangente e crítica das obras. A análise dessas narrativas revela a complexidade das estruturas patriarcais e a resistência feminina, contribuindo para o debate acadêmico e social sobre as representações de poder na literatura brasileira. |
| Abstract: | In order to investigate how women were portrayed in Brazilian society in the 18th century, and consequently in Brazilian literature, this work seeks to analyze the literary aspects used to represent the roles of women in society, focusing on the characters Isabel, from the novel A muralha (2020), by Dinah Silveira de Queiroz, and Isabel das Santas Virgens, from the novel Carta à Rainha Louca (2019), by Maria Valéria Rezende. The main objective is to investigate how women were portrayed in 18th century Brazilian society, seeking to understand the relationship between historical and social elements and their impact on the two works, emphasizing the literary aspects used to represent the roles of women in society. The literary aspects to be analyzed include the characterization of characters, the use of symbols, metaphors, and the use of language, analyzing how the authors' linguistic choices reflect and shape views about women. Among other authors, the theorization focuses on the following works: Literatura e sociedade (2006), by Antonio Candido, for a better understanding of the relationship between literature and society; the historical aspects linked to the context of women in 18th century society were supported by História das mulheres no Brasil (2004), organized by Mary Del Priore and Carla Bassanezzi Pinsky, and Histórias íntimas (2011), by Mary Del Priore; A criação do patriarcado, by Gerda Lerner, helps in the analysis of some aspects related to the origin of patriarchy; specifically on the Brazilian patriarchal order and how it appears in literature, we consulted A permanência do círculo (1987), by Roberto Reis; as for discussions on comparativism, the works Literatura comparada (2006), by Tania Carvalhal, and Literatura Comparada (2021), by Sandra Nitrini (2021) make up the theoretical and methodological framework for conducting this analysis. When investigating the narratives of Queiroz and Rezende, this theoretical foundation allowed us to analyze not only the historical and social aspects, but also the literary ones, offering a comprehensive and critical view of the works. The analysis of these narratives reveals the complexity of patriarchal structures and female resistance, contributing to the academic and social debate about representations of power in Brazilian literature. |
