Abstract

In order to promote the importance of a tobacco-free environment, with the aim of protecting people's lives and health and thus forming the civic conscience of the learner, since the school has the role of transforming society, and since it is the first environment for social interaction, it was necessary to strengthen the information and practice of the law and norms that regulate this right. The proposed theme, the social function of the school in educating, from an interdisciplinary perspective, for a tobacco-free environment, specific to the theme of Environmental Education, contemplates the socio-educational challenges inserted in the School Pedagogical Political Project. That said, the research answered the following problem: In what way can the use of an interdisciplinary guidance manual entitled Tobacco-free environment, an act of civic conscience, help teachers, the headmaster and the pedagogical team to include in their pedagogical practices the Smoke-Free Law No. 16,239/2009 and other rules that protect the tobacco-free environment in the school social environment? The aim of the research was to investigate whether the "interdisciplinary guidelines manual: tobacco-free environment, an act of civic awareness" helps teachers, the headmaster and the pedagogical team to put into practice the Smoke-Free Law No. 16.239/2009 and other norms that protect the tobacco-free environment in the school social environment, as well as to investigate the potential of the material in educating students. Of a qualitative nature, the applied research involved five educators - a research teacher, two members of the teaching team and a headmistress, totalling nine participants from the evening period. The participants carried out the applied research with students from three third-year evening secondary school classes. Participant observation and questionnaires were used to collect the data. The proposal for interdisciplinary work on environmental issues, fostering theory and practice, answered the research question based on the participants' assertion that the proposed material contributed to the subjects involved, who share the same environment, becoming able to demand an environment free of pollutants, thus making it effective, The analysis of the responses obtained by the participants shows that there has been a significant and positive change in the students' behaviour, not least because some of them shared that they had given up their addiction or were ready to give it up. The involvement of the pedagogical team, headmaster and teachers was the culmination of the process of reaffirming the importance of the anti-smoking law, which can be seen during and after the application of the theory and practice of the work proposal, with a reduction in tobacco consumption in the school environment in the 3rd year evening high school class, the result of the formation of critical and reflective students, able to exercise citizenship.
