Abstract

The present work makes an analysis compares important concepts present in the filmic work XXY and the book O Beijo da Mulher Aranha regarding the central characters of both works. It has intermediality as its object of study as wellas it analyzes sexuality and gender, but, mainly, the identity present in the worksto be studied. Bibliographic works by Linda Hutcheon (1947), Claus Cluver (1994), Stuart Hall (2006) and Michel Foucault (1984) were used as a reference andbasis for the development of the research. This study aims to show the relevanceof the authors and emphasize that a comparative analysis between the two works has yet been carried out. In this way, it aims to highlight the fact that there are few studies in the area, as the director Lucía Puenzo herself stated in interviews about her work, highlighting the difficulty of finding works containing these themes, that is, the relevance of the work is given by the fact that it is an original study. In addition, the relevance of the novel and the filmic work is emphasized, as both bring us important subjects for Cinema and Literature, and make to making the concept of intermediality clear through these works. Resulting in an analysis of both works, to answer the questions at the beginning of the work, such as, for example, what is intermediality? How are the characters portrayed? As well as making important reflections that are only possible after reading the novel and after watching the movie.
