Análise da segurança de pedestres e ciclistas no trajeto da Rua Miguel Luís Pereira à UTFPR-CM e proposta de melhoria

Abstract

In Brazil, the urban transport prioritizes motor vehicles to the detriment of pedestrians and cyclists, putting the lives of the most fragile elements in danger. This kind of urban transport has proved to be impracticable, because the more the cars, the more the air pollution and also the more congestion. To change this scenario, the use of bicycle must be encouraged by having a safe and comfortable place for the cyclist to ride. Thus, the present work brings a case study in the path between the Irmaos Pereira Avenue and the UTFPR in Campo Mourao, a path used by students and also by residents of neighbourhoods close to the university, that have to cross a highway to get to their destination. In analysing this case, it was noticed that there is no safe displacement for pedestrians and cyclists from the town centre to the university. This work brings forward a proposal to fix the safety problem in the area, after analyse the local conditions and make a bibliographic research on the theme. Besides that, this work also intends to encourage a change in current transport model to a more sustainable one, showing the many advantages of the bicycle as a means of transportation.
