Abstract

The objective of this report is to present the experience of the researchers with the technique of Focus Group used, as the first stage of a qualitaiquantitative research. We describe the experience, planning, and organization of the focus group and its impact on the data collected. Therefore, it is necessary to present the steps used in the process of developing the technique. In this sense, the work focuses on describing relevant points for data collection, among them the sensitization of the participants, the organization and composition of the environment, as well as the conduction of focus groups and data analysis, allowing the participants to have their attention totally directed to the group activities. The positions of the moderator in the group and the importance of ensuring a participatory discussion about a given topic stand out. The focus group technique is not a simple task, since it demands from researchers adequate attitudes towards the deepening about the meanings and subjectivity of the participants regarding the aspects that involve their work process.
