Medidas de segurança contra incêndio na UTFPR – Francisco Beltrão

Abstract

Fire safety is a recent issue in Brazil, starting in the 1970s after severe losses in the fires of the Joelma and Andraus buildings in São Paulo. Given the importance of the theme, this work appears to contribute and evaluate the fire fighting system in a Public Institution of Higher Education, verifying if it is in conformity with the Fire Prevention Code of the Fire Department of the State Military Police of Paraná. For this study, a field research was carried out at the Federal Technological University of Paraná, which focused on the inspection of three buildings: Block G, Block Q and Auditorium. Through a checklist, the non-conformities of the emergency exits, fire brigade, emergency lighting, fire detection and alarm, emergency signaling and fire hydrants and extinguishers systems were checked. Based on the fact that the fire fighting system should not be an isolated system, but a joint system and interconnected with the others related to the topic, the analysis of the data obtained proved that the institution's fire fighting system is not according to the rules requested by the State Fire Department and pointed out the need for corrections and adaptations, for example, the urgent implementation of fire brigade and signs in the Auditorium.
