Cidades inteligentes: um olhar sobre o município de Sorocaba (SP)

Abstract

This research presents a theoretical-conceptual approach to the issue of “smart cities”, focusing on Public Administration in the city of Sorocaba (SP). It discusses the concepts of “smart cities”, as well as some classifications and indexes about “smart cities”. It presents the concepts of information and communication technologies (ICT), the different dimensions that are present within the concept of “smart cities”, in addition to its three aspects. Discusses the current stage of Sorocaba in view of the scores obtained by the Municipality in evaluations of “smart cities”. Complemented by field research, the study verified, by interview and other sources, which are “smart city” projects and actions carried out by the Public Administration of Sorocaba city. As resulted of the study, it presents a panoramic overview of the “smart cities” initiatives in the city of Sorocaba (SP).
