Análise da capacidade de tráfego de uma rotatória no município de Toledo, no estado do Paraná

Abstract

This paper analyzes the flow capacity and performance of the roundabout located at the intersection of Maripá Avenue and São João Street in the city of Toledo, Paraná. In consideration of the scenario of large volumes of traffic, constant queuing and slow movement in the roundabout, it was necessary to assess the traffic capacity in order to define the level of service and to present possible solutions to reduce local problems. To fulfil these paper goals, two research plans were followed: the survey of the geometric characteristics, and the counting of the flow of vehicles in the peak hours. In addition, the O/D matrix was defined for each peak hour and the capacity and service level were calculated using the German method indicated by the DNIT. The roundabout was rated as service level B at lunch peak time and service level F at the evening peak. It was also observed that the design does not meet all minimum recommended dimensions for the geometric elements. It was concluded that the intersection requires interventions and because of this, three alternatives were suggested in a short, medium and long-term.
