Impactos ambientais na mineração de basalto: um estudo no município de Concórdia – SC

Abstract

The present work sought to identify the probable environmental impacts caused by a future expansion of the area for the mining activity of basalt (gravel) made by a company in the municipality of Concórdia – SC. The identification and evaluation of the significance of the environmental impacts was carried out, and after the proposed mitigation measures. In order to identify and classify the impacts, the in situ observation and the adapted impact matrix were used. With the identification of the impacts using the matrix, the physical environment was observed as the most affected and the stage of operation as the largest impact generator. With the classification the significance was determined that determined five impacts with strong relevance, nine impacts are of average relevance, and five impacts are of weak category. It was concluded that the impacts of the mining are very different, and the most significant ones for expansion of the studied area interfere in the soil characteristics and cause alteration in the landscape by the removal of vegetation and implanting a simple measure such as vegetal curtain and drainage nets , they can be mitigated or controlled, making the activity less impacting.
