Políticas públicas de prevenção na saúde da terceira idade, no município de Sorocaba (SP)

Abstract

The population is aging and they should have respected their rights, which were guaranteed by the Federal Constitution and by the law 10,741, October 1, 2003, which established the status of older persons-a great achievement of rights this population segment that grows apace. This study demonstrates the importance of public policies of prevention and health maintenance in old age, in the municipality of Sorocaba (SP). Through research we highlight the relevance of physical activities in this process. The demand of the elderly for pleasure and social interaction, leisure centres, has significantly increased in recent times. Through documentary research raised public policy information, local and federal level, as well as literature review on different databases, including access to the internet, magazines, articles, journals and interview. In view of the ageing of the population, it is increasing the demand for prevention and care for the elderly, taking urgent changes in ways of thinking, living to old age and in society as a whole. The work also demonstrates the importance of preventive actions related to public health, which can decrease public spending, with the treatment of diseases by improving the quality of life in this age group. In this context are disseminated programs and actions of the municipality of Sorocaba (SP), suggesting the continuity and expansion of existing public policies for the elderly, as well as new public actions suggested for this target audience.
