Juízos incertos em Uma estória de amor

Abstract

This final grade study aims to analyze the literarture short story Uma história de amor, that is in the book Corpo de Baile, written by João Guimarães Rosa. The analyze will be done based on Michel de Montaigne Essays, that discusses the issues of uncertainty and inconsistancy of being, the judgements and actions. Aims to interpret the characters judgments in the story, especially Manuelzão judgements, the main character. The study will show the lack of sustainable criteria such as reason in judgments construction. Therefore, it is important to analyze the actions, thoughts and probable grounds to emit judgments, thus revealing contradictory and inconsistancy beings . Among the criteria, it will explore the question of the pursuit of glory and the maintenance of customs. The study will be conducted by literature sources. This research is justified by academy use as a research resource, or by readers curiosity, who wish to figure out the Guimarães Rosa’s short story misteries, in particular, Uma história de amor. Moreover, this study will provide a material for the application of philosophical concepts from Montaigne to literary texts.
