| Resumo: | Este artigo tem como objetivo esclarecer alguns pontos importantes concernentes ao ensino de cultura no ensino de línguas estrangeiras. Língua e cultura estão intimamente relacionadas e não é possível comunicar-se efetivamente numa língua estrangeira sem ter noção do contexto cultural em que ela é usada. O texto faz algumas considerações sobre o relacionamento entre língua e cultura e a definição de cultura no ensino de línguas. A seguir, fala mais especificamente sobre o que é adotar uma abordagem intercultural em sala de aula e suas implicações. As diferenças culturais existem e, tanto o aluno quanto o professor, devem aprender a identificá-las de modo que elas não se tornem uma fonte de conflitos na comunicação intercultural. O papel do professor é oferecer suporte aos alunos para que eles desenvolvam conhecimentos, habilidades e atitudes que os preparem para se comunicar efetivamente em uma língua estrangeira, superando barreiras culturais, e levando-os progressivamente em direção a competência intercultural. Neste processo, a identidade cultural do aluno não deve ser anulada em prol da aquisição de uma nova cultura, em vez disso, ele deve achar para si um lugar intermediário entre sua cultura e a cultura alvo. |
| Abstract: | This article aims to clarify some important points concerning the teaching of culture in the foreign languages teaching. Language and culture are closely related and it is not possible to communicate effectively in a foreign language without being aware of the cultural context in which it is used. The text presents some considerations about the relationship between language and culture and the definition of culture in language teaching. Then it talks more specifically about what it means to adopt an intercultural approach in the foreign language classroom and its implications. Cultural differences exist, and both the learner and the teacher must learn to identify them so that they do not become a source of conflict in intercultural communication. The teacher's role is to support the learner so that they develop knowledge, skills and attitudes that prepare them to communicate effectively in a foreign language, overcoming cultural barriers and bringing them progressively towards intercultural competence. In this process, the cultural identity of the student should not be changed in favour of the acquisition of a new culture, instead, he should find himself a middle place between his and the target culture. |
