dc.description.abstract | Work has been the source of injury, illness and death since antiquity. Annually, thousands of Brazilian workers are victims of occupational accidents and diseases, negatively impacting the company's sustainability and generating a high social cost. The logging industry was among the 10 sectors that most reported work accidents in the period from 2015 to 2017. Logging activities are high risk, causing permanent injuries, mutilations and even deaths. Unsafe conditions in the work environment and inappropriate behavior of workers lead to errors in the execution of their tasks and contribute to the incidence of accidents. This work consists of analyzing the accident indicators of a logging industry to calculate the rate of frequency and severity and to identify the main causes of the accidents that occurred. This study was carried out in a timber industry, located in the interior of Paraná, with an effective average of 890 employees and its automated production system. Records of the accident investigations that occurred in the period from 2015 to 2017 were analyzed in order to determine the causes, sectors that generated the most accidents and affected parts of the body. Production assistants are the most frequent victims and are hit by material in process causing short bruised upper limb injuries. This is because workers feed or organize the pieces of wood on the production line manually. Rigorous productivity control and excessive rhythm interfere with the worker's behavior, leading to more accidents. | pt_BR |

dc.description.resumo | In the search for sustainability, cost and time reduction, construction has begun to spread the idea of container reuse as a constructive alternative. This alternative is gaining more space in Brazil and because it is a new method of construction, the lack of information about the analysis of the risks of accidents present in this type of execution are numerous. Therefore, the aim of this work was to identify the risks involved in the main activities carried out in a company of the branch. The applied methodology was the Preliminary Risk Analysis (APR) method, which is a simple and efficient way to reduce the accidents, since it allows a general diagnosis on the risks generated in the services of cutting, painting, welding and finishing in containers. The results obtained after the application of this method indicated that the risks of higher incidence are those of injuries and cuts, resulting from cuts and finishing, followed by injuries to the eyes, inhalation of toxic products and burns. Moreover, those risks can be avoided through proper use of PPE, maintenance of equipment and proper training of employees. | pt_BR |
