Avaliação de riscos ambientais de um laboratório de pesquisa

Abstract

A country classification as a developed or sub developed can be associate with invested amount by a nation in research and development (R&D). The Brazil, despite having about 1% of the GNP (Gross national product) invested in this sector, is the country with more resources applied in research among South American countries. Developed in the most part in public and higher technical institutions, whose the big part of their users are graduate and postgraduate students, use such structures for scientific works production. All these people are under environmental risks, unknown for many theirs, aggravated by supervision absence by regional chemistry council, and responsible institutional safety department, with their students. As the present work aimed to carry out a case study in a chemical laboratory in a higher education institution, in a qualitative way to assess the environmental risks to which their patrons are submitted, as well as the level of knowledge of users about of the risks they are exposed to in relation to their activities. The obtained results of local avaliation, as legislation fulfillment, and their users about habits of work safety, reveal the total almost absence of safety norms; one alert for all users and responsible by these places under dangers and risks; beyond serve as start point for a management safety program for minimize the possible risks.
