Análise bioclimática de residências contemporâneas em Curitiba

Abstract

Population growth has been leading to several environmental impacts and with them the pressure on how to solve or mitigate them. Several guidelines have been devised in order to meet the increasing demand in building stock and the need for energy savings, focusing on energy efficiency. The purpose of this study is to evaluate bioclimatic adequacy of contemporary housing in Curitiba/ PR and compare it to that of historic housing, built by Italian immigrants.The same evaluation approach is employed as in a previous study. The study consists of choosing the more relevant evaluation aspects of four different tools aimed at climate responsiveness of the built environment. The evaluted dwellings are located in Santa Felicidade and São Braz, where also the historic dwellings were located. Housing typology does not differ significantly. The contemporary houses have been erected by a major construction firm between 2006 and 2016. Conclusions confirm the hypothesis that although construction technologies have been developed, there were no major advances in climate adequacy.
