Lixo e impactos ambientais: a percepção ambiental no ecossistema urbano de Medianeira - Paraná

Abstract

This monograph had as subject the urban environment perception. The objective of this study was to characterization of the environment perception by a citizens determined group of the urban ecosystem of Medianeira located in the extreme west of Paraná state, Brazil, about certain issues related to waste and environmental impacts associated with it. We tried to characterize the perception of the investigated citizens with regard to problems and environmental damage, the garbage, hazardous waste and its implications to the environment and population. We characterized the environment perception of local social actors, and we grouped the different neighborhoods of the city into five sectors. As a research tool was carried a half-structuralized interview by means of a questionnaire developed for this purpose. The investigated population perceives and believes that society in general is the main cause of environmental damage, environmental education campaigns are the best solution to mitigate the possible problems related to trash in your neighborhood and that further clarification should be given to the proper disposal of hazardous waste post-consumer, such as batteries and fluorescent lamps, commonly used in everyday life.
